End of the Year Revisiting Part 2 Internships

Posted by Willy Franzen on Tuesday, December 23, 2008

Today we’re going to continue revisiting the internships that we’ve covered over the past 10 months. If you missed Part 1 of the series, you can find it here.

Draftfcb: Draftfcb still doesn’t list specific internships – all they offer is a blurb about why their internships are great. You’ll have to do some digging on your own to find specific opportunities.

Fox News: The “Fair and Balanced” news channel doesn’t list specific internships, but they make it easy to apply via e-mail.

Seth Godin and Squidoo: Seth isn’t looking for interns right now, and he might have his hands full with his Alternative MBA program, but keep an eye out for unique opportunities from Seth and Squidoo.

Council of Economic Advisers: The deadline to apply for Summer internships with the CEA is March 31st, so you still have time.

Pi Media: There are no internships listed with Pi Media, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t ask.

Luck Stone: Luck Stone was our St. Paddy’s day post, and they actually have a solid internship program. They don’t list specific opportunities, but you can find out more by reaching out to them via e-mail.

Federal Reserve Board: You might already be too late for an IT internship with the Fed (but you can still try); however, the Fed accepts applications for Economic Research Internships in the Summer and Fall until April 1.

IDEO: This innovation consulting company has some of the coolest internships out there. They have a new Careers page, and it has 4 internship opportunities listed right now.

CBSSports.com: They don’t have specific internship information on their website, but you can try using the contact information listed on the site to ask about internships.

Just Born Quality Confections: There aren’t any internships currently available for the sugar coated marshmallow lovers out there, but Just Born does have a snazzy new Internships page.

Harry & David: I’m sure that Harry & David is busy right now sending delicious gift baskets all across the world, but they say that they’ll have more information on 2009 internships posted soon.

New York City Department of Parks & Recreation: The NYC Department of Parks & Recreation still has some internships available, but it seems that they’ll have a lot more once they start recruiting for the summer.

Google Summer of Code: There’s no word yet on Google Summer of Code 2009.

American Express: AMEX really needs to get with the program. Their Campus Recruiting page looks like it’s from the 90s, and it’s tough to find decent information about internship programs. Campus recruiting is probably the best way to get in touch with them.

TargetCast tcm: TargetCast doesn’t list specific internships, but they seem to be constantly accepting applications via e-mail.

Expedia.com: There don’t seem to be any current internships posted on Expedia’s site, but maybe they’ll post more soon.

Motley Fool: Taking financial advice from a fool doesn’t sound bad after all of the “geniuses” on Wall Street lost their shirts. Motley Fool is already recruiting for their Summer ’09 Foolish Internships, and they appear to have 9 openings.

b5media: I can’t find any updates on b5media’s Internship program, but they usually hire interns for the summer.

Qorvis: You’re probably too late for their Spring internship program (it starts in January), but you can certainly still apply for a Summer internship.

PostWorks: This production house is looking for an NYC based Avid/FCP System Engineering Intern.

Bleacher Report: It’s hard to know whether Bleacher Report is still recruiting interns or if the posts that they have are old, but it’s worth shooting them an e-mail to see what’s available.

EchoDitto: They’re looking for Online Organizing and Communications Interns in NYC or DC.

Google: Google is currently recruiting interns for Associate Product Management, Software Engineering, and their BOLD Program.

Waggener Edstrom: This PR company has a new Careers Facebook page, but they don’t seem to have any openings for interns right now.

Redfin: The online realtor went through some layoffs in October, but they should still be taking interns on.

Orvis: I applied for an internship with Orvis in December, and it was way before they even thought about hiring interns. I’d imagine that you should wait a few months and talk to them in the spring.

CME Group: Right now the CME Group is offering internships in Customer Support and Risk Management.

Gallup: The pollster currently has internships posted in Accounting, Software Development, Education, and Project Management.

Pepperjam: This affiliate network doesn’t post specific internships, but they seem to accept applications all of the time.

SHVO: There’s no word on more internships with SHVO. You’ll have to contact them yourself to find out.

More tomorrow!

Hey, I’m the CEO of b5media, and we’re actually currently hiring a media intern, and are expanding our intern program to 3 slots full time all year long (in 3-4 month groups, with potential extensions and full time employment).
