I have to admit that I’m starting to feel like I’m getting old (at 23). When I heard about internship opportunities at Fearless Records, I got excited, but then realized that I had only heard of one band (formerly) on their roster – Plain White T’s – and I don’t even know why I’ve heard of them. Anyway, it’s not that Fearless Records isn’t a great record label, it’s that I can’t keep up with new music any more. My first website was music related, but now I’m lucky if I know who half the artists on the Top 20 are. I do know that Fearless Records isn’t Top 20 type music, but I’m going to refrain from trying to talk too much about something that is out of my depth
I may not know anything about punk music, but I do know good internships when I see them, and Fearless Records has some great opportunities. Here’s a little background information on the label from their website:
Fearless Records, in business since 1994, has an exciting roster of bands on the rise and has been home to greats such as At The Drive-in, Plain White T’s, and Sugarcult. The label offers a diverse selection of alternative rock, punk, and hardcore. On the pop side, Fearless has developed Mayday Parade, Rock Kills Kid, Plain White T’s, and Sugarcult. On the heavier side of the roster there are A Static Lullaby, Alesana, So They Say, The Fully Down, and Classic Case. And for those that like their rock experimental, there is Gatsbys American Dream, Portugal The Man, and The Outline. Some of Fearless Records newest bands include Every Avenue, The Maine, The Morning Light, and Eye Alaska. Fearless Records is also home to the “Punk Goes Series,” which is one of the top themed compilation series available.
Fans of Fearless Records artists will probably make the best interns, so if any of the bands mentioned above have a prominent place on your playlist, keep reading. Fearless is offering internships in Tour Marketing, Regional Marketing / Street Marketing, Retail Marketing, New Media (Viral Marketing, Mobile Marketing, Content Management, Online Promotions), Publicity, Strategic Marketing, and Graphic Design as well as a General Internship. The internships are unpaid, and run from August 18, 2008 through December 12, 2008. Fearless Records is located in Huntington Beach, CA and expects its interns to work work 2 or 3 days a week from 9 AM to 5:30 PM. Retail Marketing Interns are required to work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Fearless Records’ application deadline is 5pm on August 6, 2008. If you’re interested in a Publicity internship, make sure that you include writing samples or press releases, even if they’re from school. Those who are interested in the Graphic Design position should include a portfolio. All applicants should e-mail a cover letter and resume to Joyce@FearlessRecords.com, and be sure to include which positions you’re interested in. If you want to see the original internship posting, you can find it here on AbsolutePunk.net.
