Hopefully you haven’t aged too much during college, because your youth is going to be one of your strongest assets if you want to apply for today’s internships. Fuse Marketing is a youth marketing agency that focuses on offering Consulting, Event Marketing, Communications, and Creative services. They work to “connect brands with youth through sports, music, fashion and other relevant youth cultural interests.” They’ve worked with Eastern Mountain Sports to build a more youthful customer base and with the Association of Surfing Professionals to increase awareness of its World Championship Tour. These are just a couple of examples of how major brands trust Fuse Marketing to reach young people.
If you want to intern with a company where your lack of experience is an asset and your youthful ignorance is worth something, then Fuse Marketing is a company that you need to look at. Their general focus is on youth marketing, but they get more specific than that. Fuse helps companies with sports, music, fashion, buzz, viral, lifestyle, entertainment, ethnic, and college marketing. Within each of these categories they have expertise on targeting tweens, teens, Gen Y, and Gen X. Their site is loaded with case studies based on their Consulting, Event Marketing, Communications, and Creative practices. A quick look at those will give you a more detailed look of exactly what kind of work Fuse does.
Fuse Marketing just added a bunch of internships to their website. The way their site is built is a little funky, so we can only link you to their Jobs and Internships page. From there it should be pretty easy to find the specific internship descriptions. They have both Spring and Summer internships available for 2009 in Consulting, Communications/PR, Event Marketing, Print Design, and Web Design. The internships are unpaid and located in Burlington, VT. The only way to apply is through their online form, so you’ll have to navigate to specific listings to submit your application.
Fuse Marketing also offers Brand Ambassador jobs on 60 college campuses. These aren’t technically internships, but they’re certainly employment opportunities worth considering if you’re a college student who is looking to get some marketing and promotions experience while earning a little extra cash. You can also find and apply for these opportunities by starting at Fuse’s Jobs and Internships page.
