When I hear the name Pepperjam, the first thing that comes to my mind is the television show Pepper Ann from One Saturday Morning. That’s actually really embarrassing to admit, but I hope that you’ll overlook it when you see how cool of a company Pepperjam is. They have “Free Pizza Fridays, Ping Pong, video games (ie: Nintendo Wii, Guitar Hero), free Red Bull and music all day.” Now forget that I admitted to ever knowing anything about the show Pepper Ann.

Pepperwhat?

What the heck is Pepperjam? We think that it has something to do with the fact that the company was originally founded as an online gourmet food business. They were so successful that other companies kept coming to them asking them how to be great online marketers. Realizing that this was a business opportunity of its own, Pepperjam shifted its focus in 2000 to “online marketing, including pay-per-click, search-engine optimization, and affiliate program management.” That’s led to their being featured in Inc. Magazine’s list of the 500 fastest growing companies due (their 550.2% 3-year growth rate ranks them 293rd). If you’re not familiar with Internet marketing, you should know that it’s a completely different beast from traditional marketing, but it’s just as exciting – if not more so. Somewhere along the way Pepperjam also launched a comparison shopping site that doesn’t seem to have panned out. For more on their history, you can read this post on the Pepperjam Blog (there’s also some controversy about their latest business move).

Is Online Marketing Your Jam?

On their Careers page Pepperjam says that they offer internships in all areas of their business, which include Affiliate, Graphic Design, Search Services, Information Technology, SEO, Management, Software Development, Network, Sales, Media, Finance, and Human Resources. There isn’t too much specific information, but the internship are both paid and for credit. Pepperjam is located in Wilkes-Barre, PA, so that’s where the internships will be. To apply you can send a resume and cover letter to careers@pepperjam.com.

Since we couldn’t find out a lot about the internships and we’re posting an article about dirt digging on the Job Search Blog at One Day, One Job (no, we are not talking about Pepperjam in that post), we’ve found a few interesting things for you to take a look at. Pepperjam has Facebook page for their company and their affiliate network, and Pepperjam CEO Kristopher Jones has a Twitter account that you can follow. We didn’t find anything too juicy, but you can dig around and see what you come up with.

They are overrated and that is all they are good for is an internship. I would never try and have a career there.
