If you’ve been keeping up to date with our daily internship posts, you know that we’re starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel. We’re not saying that the Summer opportunities that are available in late (yes, the 22nd is late) May are necessarily of lower quality, but it’s like a Black Friday Sale – the good stuff usually goes fast (and the best internship programs usually do their hiring months in advance). Well we were shocked to come across a company called Russell Investments that is one of Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For in 2008 and is still hiring Summer interns. We actually found out about these internships from the Twitter profile of Amod Damle Russell’s Manager of College Recruiting.

It’s Never Too Late

We are thoroughly impressed not only by Russell Investments’ internship offerings, but also by the way that they convey information about their internships online. They have a Student Center section of their website that is mostly focused on recruiting interns. From there you can find links to information about Russell, what life is like at Russell, and frequently asked questions about internships. Obviously, they also have page with their available internship opportunities. The tweet (post on Twitter) that we referenced earlier mentioned 8 internships, but we only see 7 listed now. They are Advertising Internship, Americas Institutional Internship, Fund Publishing Internship, Global Equity Internship, Product & Marketing Research Internship, Risk Management Internship, and Technology Solutions Internship.

These internships are all available this summer and located in Tacoma, WA. Russell Investments pays their interns, helps them find housing, and reimburses them for travel expenses and relocation (yes, students from all across the country can apply). They also take on about a quarter of their interns as full-time associates. Russell Investments is clearly a company that knows how to run an internship program. We can’t believe that they’re still hiring, so get your act together, do some more research with the links below, and apply. Still not sold? Check out their pages: Meet Our Interns, Why Intern at Russell?, and Life Outside of Work.

Sorry for all the links, but Russell offers a ton of information about their internship program, and we want to make sure that you don’t miss any of the details.

    Willy,

Nice job. I just submitted a post about Amod and Russell’s partnerships with schools too.

Thanks for the post Willy. My advice to your readers/potential internship candidates is that you include a cover letter along with your resume when applying for the job – our hiring managers do take the time to go through those cover letters and we give preference to those letters that demonstrate a clear and genuine interest in Russell and the asset management industry (and NOT iBanking!). Also – don’t forget to proof read your letter and your resume! We will respond to all applicants whose qualifications match the position’s requirements. Good luck!
