Sodahead Internships

Although crackheads are typically addicted to crack, sodaheads may or may not be addicted to soda. We’re not exactly sure what a sodahead is, but we know that the name implies someone who has ideas constantly bubbling out of his or her head. Sodahead is a social network for these people. It allows users to ask and answer poll questions and to discuss those answers with other people who have similar interests. You can discuss the questions on Sodahead.com, or you can take the questions with you in the form of a widget to your blog or MySpace page. There are plenty of serious survey and polling tools online, but Sodahead tries to bring a little fun by allowing users to embed multimedia in their polls. We’d say that Sodahead is more focused on creating entertainment value than promoting data collection.

Internships Bubbling Up

We were doing our daily scan of Twitter for internships when we came across a tweet from @Sodahead about needing interns in LA. We were intrigued, so we started to do a little research. We got a feel for what Sodahead was all about, and then we saw that they’ve landed a total of $12.7 million in financing. Their website doesn’t offer much information about the company, but we do know that Sodahead was founded by two former MySpace execs, Jason Feffer and Michael Glazer. After digging a little deeper, we found this post on the UCLA Economics Blog about interning with Sodahead. A former Sodahead intern (he’s now full-time) wrote about his experiences and included the job description for the Fall internships that they are currently trying to fill.

SodaHead.com is looking for smart & web-savvy college students to intern with us at our office in Encino. Work in a fun, casual and uber-creative environment where you’ll have the opportunity to work on a team in areas including viral marketing, community management, user interactivity, handling profiles for celebs and bands, and brainstorming new ideas. Web 2.0 skills and experience are valuable in just about every field right now and this is a great opportunity to work in rapidly-growing company.

They’re looking for someone who is familiar with the web, social networking, and blogging. It’s also helpful if you’re a great writer and have Photoshop skills. The internships are part-time, unpaid, and located in Encino, CA. You can apply by sending a cover letter and resume to ericg@sodahead.com or DMing @sodahead on Twitter

Today is October 10 and for the past two days have not been able to get onto the sodahead site. Others have experienced the same connection problem, so I suspect that the site is down due to extremely heavy traffic with the elections and economy. If anyone reads this, ask Fef to post some kind of an announcement about the problem and when the site will be accessible again.
