Last month I got an e-mail from a One Day, One Job reader named Lindsay Dick who has landed in an Internship Coordinator position. Her extensive internship experience during college has led to a job managing an internship program! It’s funny how that works. The organization that she works for is a Cocoa, FL based non-profit called To Write Love on Her Arms. They’re “dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.” If you don’t know a lot about these issues, check out TWLOHA’s Facts page. It sounds like an amazing organization, and if its internship program is run by one of our readers, it has to be good.
To Write Love on Her Arms is an organization that knows how to use social media. Their website is awesome, and this carries over to their Internships page. In fact, they even have an awesome video on their internships.
You can get all of the details on the TWLOHA Internships page. Right now they’re recruiting for the fall, and the application deadline is July 17; however, they also offer Spring and Summer internships. The internships are unpaid, and there’s a pretty intense application process (sending just a cover letter and resume won’t cut it). Since TWLOHA does such a good job of communicating about themselves and their internships, I don’t really need to tell you any more. You’ll be able to find out everything that you need to know really easily. And if you can’t, you can always contact intern@twloha.com.
