Check out the latest internship postings from Travel Channel.

When I’m working during the day (or night), I like to have the tv on. I’m not usually actively watching – I just like having some background noise. With that said, I still prefer to have something decently entertaining on (otherwise I’ll start yelling at the tv about how bad the show is). Lately the Travel Channel has been putting out a strong effort. Shows like No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain and Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern are perfect for what I’m looking for in a tv show. There are also some cool new shows like Dhani Tackles the Globe and Man v. Food that look like something I might even want to watch when I’m not working. I never used to think much of the Travel Channel, so it’s cool to see that they’re really committing to improving their programming.

Travel to… Maryland

Now, you might be expecting the Travel Channel’s internships to send you galavanting off to foreign locations to film shows. Keep dreaming. Their internships look pretty cool, but don’t go in with unrealistic expectations. They’re not going to see your resume and ask you to replace Samantha Brown as the tv personality who travels the world checking out cool hotels and vacation destinations. What the Travel Channel can offer you is an internship in Marketing. Their internships posting says Undergraduate only, but it appears that they have MBA internships in Marketing too. These internships are a little hard to find, but if you go to the Cox Communications site (Travel Channel’s parent company) and check out the Travel Channel Jobs page you’ll be on the right track. From there you can check out the Travel Channel Job Listings, where you’ll see the internships listed (the site didn’t work in Safari for me, but it did work in Firefox). The projects planned for interns look really exciting, so it doesn’t look like you’ll just be getting coffee and making copies. The internships are paid, located in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and run from June 1st through August 7th. There doesn’t appear to be an application deadline, but you should fill out the online application as soon as you can to make sure that you don’t miss out.

The only internship that I see on the Travel Channel’s site now is in QA (Quality Assurance, I think). I’m guessing the other ones have been filled.

Do you think that The Travel Channel will have these same internships for this summer 2010? I have been stalking their website since december for a summer internship and so far no cigar. I would love to work for them
