Trendrr Internships

Since today is World Usability Day, maybe it would have been better if we saved Hesketh’s internships for today. I guess we jumped the gun. Maybe if we had been watching trends a little more closely, we wouldn’t have missed the announcement. Ok, so maybe Trendrr wouldn’t have told us that today is World Usability Day, but it can tell us that the Yankees are more popular than the Mets (Duh!) and that… well… I don’t know exactly what it’s telling us about the NYC Pillow Fight’s Attendees. Trendrr pulls data from 14 categories (Blogs, Facebook, Finance, Jobs, Movies, News, Real Estate, Sales, Search Results, Social Networks, Tickets, Video, Weather, and Web Stats) and numerous sources to allow you to track all kinds of trends, whether they be as ridiculous as attendees at a pillow fight or as serious as the number of Indeed job listings in your city. It’s an insanely cool tool that I’m going to start using to watch some things that I currently use RSS to track.

So Trendrr is an insanely cool web app that doesn’t seem to have generated too much of a following yet. I think that will change quickly, though, because after I finish writing this post I’m going to go play with Trendrr. There aren’t many web apps that catch my attention like that. So we know that Trendrr is cool, but there isn’t much more about them online beyond their website. The only reason that we know that they’re looking for interns is because of this tweet. It says, “Trendrr is looking for Interns. Quant jocks. stat freqs, social media savants, come coders come designers, got kung-fu we are for you.” In other words if you have a background in statistics, social media marketing, web design, software development, or martial arts, they want you. That’s it. There’s no internship posting. No contact information (except Twitter of course, @Trendrr). And no more details. The only e-mail address that we can find on their site is feedback@trendrr.com, so you might want to try that if you’re absolutely terrified of Twitter. Other than that, we know that Trendrr is located in New York City and they’re a Wiredset Company. Wiredset offers stipends to their interns (we’ll be posting about them tomorrow probably), so it seems possible that Trendrr does the same, but it’s impossible for us to tell. There may not be much to go on for this one, but an internship with Trendrr sounds like it would be a pretty cool experience, so go get on Twitter and ask them what it’s all about.
