If your sweetheart is out of a job or struggling to find an internship this Valentine’s Day, then give him or her a gift that shows that you really care. Chocolates, flowers, and jewelry only bring temporary satisfaction, but there’s nothing more satisfying (besides a relationship with you, of course) than a job that you love. Enroll your sweetheart in Found Your Career (our online job search training course) today.

At this time last year, we were just preparing to launch One Day, One Internship, but on One Day, One Job we did a weeklong build up to Valentine’s Day – we checked out jobs at ProFlowers, OpenTable, eHarmony, and Tiffany & Co. One obvious choice that I left out was a confectioner or chocolatier. That’s why today we’re going to look at Vosges, a Chicago based producer of Haut-Chocolat. I had a lot of options when it came to picking a chocolatier to feature today, and I probably could have picked one that actual internship listings (your homework can be to go find one), but I picked Vosges for a single reason. They make a chocolate bar with bacon in it. I’ve had it, and it’s awesome. How could you not want to work with a company that is creative enough to mix those two things together?

Delicious Internships

Have you ever asked someone out and been told, “Yes, when pigs fly?” If so, you might want to give that person one of Vosges’ Flying Chocolate and Bacon Pigs. Ok, I sound like a walking advertisement for Vosges, but I am just wowed by their creativity. It’s not just about chocolate though. Their mission is pretty ambitious – “to create a luxury chocolate experience rooted in a sensory journey of bringing about awareness to indigenous cultures through the exploration of spices, herbs, roots, flowers, fruits, nuts, chocolate and the obscure.” Or as their founder puts it, “Peace through chocolate.” If you’re as impressed by Vosges as I am, then you might want to consider a job with them. Their Jobs page is a little odd, because it starts by talking about the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi. They eventually get into the fact that they’re “always looking for high-energy, dedicated team members to join our chocolate revolution.” In other words, they seem more than open to cold calling. That’s good news, because they don’t seem to have ever publicly offered internships before. If you want to intern with them, you’re going to have to ask nicely and at the same time tell them why you would make a great Vosges intern. They provide contact information on their Jobs page, so use that to see if you can convince them to take you on as an intern.
